School of Science and Engineering
The race and competition to create fully electric vehicles in the next few years is on its way, making the Bachelor of Electric Vehicle Engineering a promising future. The program prepares students to research and develop the creation of these vehicles. Concentrating on the hybrid electric, battery electric and fuel electric vehicles, students will be prepared to actively participate and improve our search for the future of electric vehicles. Some topics that are covered include combustion engines, electric machines, batteries and how the design and performance influences electric vehicles. As Electric Vehicle Engineers, students will be able to design and understand the importance of these low emission vehicles and how to make a great impact in our society. The program of Electric Vehicle Engineering at AIU, is a distance learning program that will be tailor-made and designed exclusively for you, by you, and with your counselor. The flexibility to meet your needs is rarely found in any other distance learning program. Our program does not require that each student studies the same subjects and uses the same books and study materials as other students. Instead, our online Associate Programs are designed just for you. They are individually designed to meet your needs and help you achieve your professional and personal goals.
Important: You can find below an example of the topics or areas of study that you can develop and work on during your study program. This does not mean, in any way, that said example implies being a complete list that you are obliged to carry out at AIU, but that it is used by you as it is, an example or guide at your service. We remind you that AIU does not require its students to follow a standardized curriculum. Do you want to learn more about curriculum design at AIU? (Courses and Study Plans)

With an Electric Vehicle Engineering Degree, engineers are able to oversee, plan, design, implement, test, as well as advance the field of electrical vehicles. There are many components of an electric vehicle, so each component of the vehicle, like batteries for example, needs to be created and engineers are the main professionals who understand and can put together the components that are needed. Engineers are also responsible for the electricity in vehicles and to provide the vehicle with the necessary energy that it needs. The median salary for Electric Vehicle Engineers is $98,530 and is expected to grow 5% every year up until the year 2029, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
There is a great demand when it comes to Electric Vehicle Engineers. Especially with car suppliers since car companies have been outsourcing more of their product development. Some companies include Bosch, Eaton and Autoliv. Of course, other opportunities are in demand when it comes to working with car companies directly like Tesla, BMW, Audi, Ford, General Motors, Chrysler or Toyota who are are also looking for talent. There is also a need for writing software for components of these vehicles.
