Experience Letter at
AIU
Since 2009, I’m an
employee of Emmaus University of Haiti. I work as Assistant Vice President of
Academic Affairs. So, before I have worked as AVPAA, I was several activities
in the University. Because of I work in an accredited university I had
obligation to continue with my education. So, on January 2017 I have enrolled
to Atlantic International University and I have done
on January 2019. I was looking for a good online university where I can study
without having to leave my country, my job, my wife, my children, my church, my
friends, etc. I had a very good experience with Atlantic International
University. It was for the first time I did an online study. Atlantic
International University uses three methods that I really like:
1- Self-learning: The Atlantic
International University comes with the “Self-learning” method. It is
a method in which students learn and discover new ideas for themselves. The
academic advisors and tutors of the Atlantic International University are
available to guide students during their studies, but not to discover new
concepts for them. In traditional universities, teachers do much more work than
students that is not a good thing in the learning process.
2- Curriculum Creation by Students: In
traditional universities students do not have the right to build their own
curriculum. They are required to take courses that they do not really need. But
Atlantic International University did the opposite. Instead of creating
curriculum for students, the AIU guides them by creating their own curriculums.
In this case the students take the courses that they really need.
3- Check homework before submission: Many
students tend to plagiarize when writing assignments. They take pleasure in
writing on their papers the ideas of others without giving credit to the
principal author. Sometimes they give references, but they copied too much from
books, newspaper, articles, etc. Atlantic International University requires 80%
original, so all homework must be checked by students before submitting for
grading. This method helps us to be creative.
