AIU’s student; Teacher of Teachers
Aura del Socorro Lopez Ramirez has been elected as one of the top 100 teachers of her country- Colombia- and has now been offered a challenge- together with those whom shares the same distinction; to train teachers in 3-000 schools with the worst education indicators of the country.
She was like most teachers- teaching public classes of students in the primary and secondary schools. That was until she received a phone call from the Ministry of Education of Colombia to conform in the very colloquial terms- would be the dream team of Colombian Education.
Her objective under the program “Todos a Aprender” (Everybody to Learn) was to provide training in educational strategies to 3-000 teachers- which in turn would replicate the knowledge to 70-000 other teachers.
Factoring two major points:
1. That the educational material and training received is valued.
2. Ideally replicating the knowledge with other teachers within the community- so that it’s adopted and updated.
In summary- she states: “With the Program “Todos a Aprender” the teachers have the basic tools to revolutionize conventional teaching processes. This is something that will only be obtained if you train with discipline and understand that the dream of a better education- at any level- starts from the early years of a person’s life. This is precisely the task that we now have in front of us.
