Nathaniel Ebo Nsarko recently presented his Thesis which was graded with an A for the Degree of Doctor of Development Communication. The Thesis was titled “THE ART OF LEVERAGING ICT TO BRIDGE THE COMMUNICATION GAP BETWEEN AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH- ACADEMIA- AND SMALL-SCALE FARMERS IN GHANA.”
Abstract:
The use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) is revolutionizing the agriculture sector- and the benefit it brings is enormous. This study explores ICT innovations and solutions in agriculture- by using it as a communication tool through the TeleAgric Programme towards its development in Ghana. Focus is placed on enhancing information dissemination between small-scale farmers- academia- and agricultural researchers in Ghana which will help further develop the sector. A comprehensive examination of existing and future innovations of ICT in agriculture was explored through the review of the literature. The study primarily focused on small scale farmers’ usage of ICT in agriculture- in terms of accessibility- usage- challenges- and the kind of information they received.
